NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique) is an alternative therapy that has gained popularity in recent years for its potential to treat skin conditions. Developed by Dr. Devi Nambudripad in the 1980s, NAET is based on the principle that allergies and sensitivities to substances can be eliminated through a combination of acupressure and energy balancing techniques. Dr. Earley is a certified NAET practitioner who specializes in chronic conditions, including allergies, eczema, rosacea, acne, and psoriasis.
While NAET has been used to treat a variety of conditions, including allergies, asthma, and digestive issues, it has also been promoted as a treatment for skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and hives. In this blog, we will explore how NAET works, the evidence for its effectiveness in treating skin conditions, and some of the potential benefits and risks associated with the therapy.
NAET is based on the concept of energy meridians in the body, which are channels that carry energy throughout the body. According to traditional Chinese medicine, these meridians correspond to different organs and systems in the body and can be accessed through acupressure points.
NAET practitioners use muscle testing to identify allergies or sensitivities to substances such as foods, environmental allergens, and chemicals. Once an allergy is identified, the practitioner stimulates specific acupressure points while the patient is in contact with the allergen. This is thought to reprogram the body’s response to the substance, eliminating the allergy or sensitivity.
In addition to acupressure, NAET also uses other techniques such as chiropractic adjustments, nutritional supplements, and homeopathy to balance the body’s energy and promote healing.
While there is limited scientific evidence to support the use of NAET in treating skin conditions, some studies and case reports suggest that it may be effective for some patients.
A 2017 study published in the Journal of Acupuncture and Meridian Studies examined the use of NAET to treat patients with eczema. The study included 30 patients who received NAET treatments once per week for 10 weeks. At the end of the study, the researchers found that the patients’ eczema symptoms had significantly improved, and their quality of life had also improved.
A case report published in the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine in 2012 described a patient with psoriasis who experienced significant improvement in her symptoms after undergoing NAET treatments. The patient reported that her skin lesions had healed, and she had experienced a reduction in itching and inflammation.
While these studies and case reports suggest that NAET may be effective in treating skin conditions, it is important to note that they are limited in scope and more research is needed to confirm these findings.
One of the potential benefits of NAET for skin conditions is that it is a non-invasive and drug-free therapy. Unlike traditional allergy treatments such as antihistamines or corticosteroids, NAET does not involve the use of medications, which may have side effects.
NAET also aims to address the root cause of allergies and sensitivities, rather than just treating the symptoms. By balancing the body’s energy and eliminating allergies, NAET may help to prevent future allergic reactions and improve overall health.
However, there are also potential risks associated with NAET. As with any alternative therapy, there is a lack of regulation and oversight, which means that the quality of care may vary from practitioner to practitioner. Patients should ensure that they are working with a licensed and experienced practitioner who has received proper training in NAET.
