“The obvious is rarely the real reason.” ~ Mikio Sankey, PhD, LAc ~
The majority of Americans suffer from one or more chronic illnesses, including allergies, asthma, eczema, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, and the list goes on. Why has it been so difficult to make positive changes for such serious chronic ailments? Modern medicine relies heavily, if not solely, on pharmaceuticals to help manage the symptoms associated with the myriad of chronic diseases. However, as many people are beginning to realize, the sad truth is that there has yet to be a “magic bullet” or cure for any of these diseases. Pharmaceuticals, at the very best, successfully manage symptoms and prevent further destruction to the physical body. At the worst, however, pharmaceuticals can cause significant side effects, and are in fact the number 3 killer in the United States behind heart disease and cancer.
According to Djwhal Khul in the book Esoteric Healing, 90% of illnesses originate in the astral or etheric levels; simply stated, the emotional level. If this is accepted as being true, then working only on the physical body for a physical imbalance, as pharmaceutical agents do, is not addressing the root cause of disease. Mikio Sankey states in his book Discern the Whisper: Esoteric Healing Volume II that “emotional weaknesses become locked into the mind as mind patterns.” He goes on to state that in order to achieve health, the emotions, the physical body, and the triggering factor (cause of illness, such as bacteria, virus, allergy, etc.) must all be in balance. If the emotional and physical aspects of an individual are in balance, then the triggering factor is less likely to cause harm.
Dr. Sankey discusses in Discern the Whisper that, in the cases of cancer, “the most important part of the triangle to balance is the astral/mental levels. Secondarily, we must eliminate carcinogenic substances from the diet. Carcinogens are not the most important factor in the development of cancer. If they were, then everyone who smokes cigarettes would develop lung cancer.”
I distinctly remember sitting in my Human Physiology class in graduate school, listening to the professor discuss his experiences as a doctor with his cancer patients. He made the observation that the majority of the patients with cancer had a recent tragedy or jolting experience, such as the death of a loved one, a divorce, loss of a job, and so on. Such experiences appeared to be the catalyst of cancer.
Sankey addresses heart disease as well in Discern the Whisper: “[t]he greatest number of deaths in the United States in related to heart problems. It does not matter whether the medical term is cardiac arrest, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, mitral valve prolapse, cardiomyopathy, or any other heart disorders.” From a spiritual perspective, the heart is associated with joy and love, and heart problems manifest when there is a lack of joy or a lack of love in one’s life. How could heart disease manifest physically?
Most people have a tendency to be involved in a number of distractions, such as watching TV, drinking alcohol, playing video games, overworking and so on. As a society, we have gotten accustomed to spending endless hours with these distractions, choosing to ignore our own emotional issues. Some degree of fear is involved in not facing our own dark side, and that vibration of fear, which also includes anger, resentment, or guilt, is a constricting energy. In addition, many people work out of the mental level by compartmentalizing their issues, sweeping matters under the rug. Many who do this honestly believe that they have no issues to work through, so it begins to manifest on the physical level.
In order to heal, energies of expansion must be set into motion. Quieting the mind and removing distractions will begin the healing process. By quieting the mind, we are able to tap into areas that need to be healed. By learning to quiet the mind, we are able to discern the whisper of the heart. Thus, by following the heart, we live a life of purpose, happiness, and love.
There is a form of acupuncture known as esoteric acupuncture that was developed by Dr. Mikio Sankey, which focuses on unlocking the heart to awaken consciousness. This is an important aspect of acupuncture for anyone, especially those on the path of spiritual enlightenment and those who want to focus on health instead of disease.
There are few Licensed Acupuncturists who are formally trained by Dr. Sankey; however, with the rapid pace of spiritual evolution these days, more practitioners of Oriental Medicine are realizing that true healing is more than just physical, psychological, or even emotional, but spiritual as well. The paradigm of health is shifting, and esoteric acupuncture is ushering in a deeper level of healing for those on the path of enlightenment.
